Remembering 9/11/01

I was about to take my little girl and the neighbors daughter to school, when my phone rang and it was my mama.

She told me to go look at the TV…

The girls followed me and we were confused at what we were looking at…burning buildings, looked like people running everywhere…and then…

We saw an airplane crash into another building!

….tears fell from our eyes in panic and disbelief at what we were seeing.

My mama on the phone still was crying….

she had been trying to get call my brother, who lived just a few blocks from the terrorist attack!

He wasn’t answering his phone…

I kept trying to call him and I couldn’t get him either…

I did bring the kids to school that day and all the classes watched in horror as New York City fall apart…

… and then all the threats that were occurring in the United States.

My brother was supposed to be at the World Trade Center that morning the terrorist struck America.

My brother overslept…

…he looked out his windows to see bodies falling off the buildings…

My cousin lived just across from the World Trade Center too.

She just so happened to stay out late that night and wound up sleeping in Brooklyn!

But her cat Annie was still in the apartment!

My cousin lost everything in her apartment. Soot covered every thing…

But…Annie her cat was rescued.

… and now lives with my mama.

My brother couldn’t bare the losses he lived with day after day, the terror never left him….he now lives in on the west coast and cant even be reminded of this day.

My cousin lost her apartment and life goes on for her…She actually has an organic resturant in Brooklyn called “Rockin Raw”

www.RockinRaw.com

I had a friend that is an artist and lost everything in hurricane Katrina and had to move far away, but what she did manage to salvage a few negatives of the photographs from 9/11/01.…you can help her come back to New Orleans by visiting her website…www.musephotography.com You will have to request those pictures but she does have them as well as some from Katrina.

Random thought….do you know how many times I look at the clock and I see it says 9:11. That helps me to always remember, lets all….

Remember this day always. We lost alot in those days many of our loved ones and others will will never know.

I believe everything happens for a reason, I beleive our world changed alot  from that attack. I beleive many lives changed for the better.

So lets foucs on the positive things in life that we have today. Look around you and be blessed if you can see the blue sky or grey today for me but anyways take a deep breathe and remember to tell someone you love them, for you may not not if they will be there in the next moment.
