Winey Day

Thursday, October 7th, 2010

I’m driving down the road, listening to the radio, Lee Greenwood is surrounding my mood with his warm voice singing his song….. God bless the USA.

…………….I glance down beside me and realize that I’ve brought my wine glass with me…

……………for this little ride to the lil country market down the gravel road

…..I started to feel guilty about accidentally bringing the glass…. when suddenly I was overcome with this grin….

……..I realized at that moment, staring down at the red wine in the glass…. how wine is such a

…………………good friend to me….even if its 105 degrees outside….and Im sure its close to it…its

…………….still so good to me…..

…….when Im all by myself…. wine will just help me escape the grief of the work day and just settle me down…

……………….Red Red Wine is good for all the souls that need a winding down…..just a few sips,

the warm red liquid feels so warm  in your chest….

…and you realize that you are bout to take some deep breaths….

……..and turn up some  good  beautiful music….and just turn around an go back home…..

……………mmmm mmmm  red red wine just let it ease on down and may it rest your weary soul…..

hugs and kisses

A few things about Santa!

santa1

At one time when we had such sweet innocence, we truly believed in the magic that Santa brought to us every Christmas.

When I was a little girl, I remember my parents and grandparents calling all the children to gather by the television.

The local news would report to us the latest location of where Santa was.

…I can still see the map of the United States and the outline of a path, that the news person would point out… as to where Santa was heading.

And he was always heading our way…

So we had to quickly…put out the milk and cookies and climb in bed, before he got there.

I’m not sure if they still have that tradition on the local news in Lafayette, Louisiana, but the memory of those times are so precious.

Yes, Virginia there is  a Santa Claus, was featured in a magazine that my mama had….sometime in the 1970’s…

…and my mama gave me the story to read.

When I first began to read the story, I was shocked that someone would dare think that there wasn’t a Santa Claus!

My heart was broken! I didn’t want to read it! It couldn’t be true. My mama must have made a mistake.

The beauty and joy in believing  in Santa, gives all of us so much every year.

As an adult, I ‘ve learned the true meaning to the story of Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus…and its beautiful.

When my youngest child was in pre-school, at the same pre-school as I was teaching…

a very special Santa came one Christmas to visit the children…

…and to take pictures with him.

As my daughter climbed on Santa’s lap, she told Santa “My Paw Paw, has shoes just like you!

That is one of the sweetest memory’s I have of my daddy. I can’t help but wonder how many daddy’s out there have truly enjoyed the pleasure and honor of standing in this mans shoes?

Santa, exist to show the world the generous nature and devotion we should all have in our hearts at Christmas time.

The most real things in the world that are to touch our lives are those that are unseen, either to a child or adult.

Santa gives us that magical excitement every year. I couldn’t imagine a life, for me or my children without the pleasure of having Santa in it every year.

I have so many wonderful memories of  Santa and hope that you all have  that magic part of Christmas in your life.

He…Santa that is…represents much more than I beleive most of us really understand.

Spread some joy today and have a great Ho! Ho! Ho! and may a little of Santa live in each one of you.

Note to Santa if he reads this….I Love You Santa, and I have been a very good girl this year! Hope to hear you on my roof top!

infallible

It’s  such a girlie thing, we don’t even need a mirror anymore…

You see us of all ages applying…..
Lip Gloss….. Its like a girls best friend!

You can have the most naked of faces and just add a little lip gloss and Voile’

You look like your shining!

Every girl has her favorite Lip Gloss….
…but we often carry several kinds of lipsticks, balms or gloss in our purses and sometimes in our pockets…

But we all have our favorite lip gloss…

This past summer, while camping at the RV Resort in Baton Rouge. Louisiana (Cajun Palms)

Some of my friends were just hanging around the Tiki Bar…. watching our guys play beach volley ball, where I can also mention that they were winning, but they looked like they were dying….

….And my sister in law caught me putting on my lipgloss and said Oh Oh Can I borrow?

…well I didn’t seem to mind…so I let her apply some…

Moments later she asked me what kind of gloss that was….she said her lips were tingleling…

Once I revealed that it was a lip gloss with plumper, I received such a reaction…from other friend that was there…that she was glad that she didn’t use any…
God forbid….because she has pleasantly plump lips as it is…

….but for those of us who would like a little bit of a fuller lip we choose a lip gloss with a plumper in it…

So my favorite for the past few months has been Loreal’s ((infallible))

It has a great gloss with color and it last for hours!

It come in many shades of gloss ~
Plumped Pink ~ Plumped Rose ~ Plumped Red ~ Plumped Coral ~ Plumped Mauve ~ Plumped Plum ~ Plumped Tawny and Plumped Brown

Fire!

Fire!

He dashed out of bed in his boxers…

…to the back of the house…with two leaps!

The fire was about 2 feet high off of my daughters dresser!

I couldn’t believe my eyes!

Not a minute later, the whole room would have been engulfed in flames and quite possibly the whole house with me and my husband sleeping.

I was having trouble sleeping and kept smelling something on an off…but for the first time this winter we were sleeping with the bedroom door open.
The fire we had been sitting by in the living room was just so warm and cozy, I wanted some of the heat to flow through out the house into our bedroom, so I left our door open.

…And, I assumed it was  the fire dying out in the living room…that I kept smelling…on an off.

Earlier in the day…I was cleaning house and decided to light a few candles.

…So, I lit a tiny candle and placed it on my daughters dresser.

The evening plans changed from the 3 of us being home to

…My daughter got called into work

…my mother in-law inviting us to dinner

…and  me having a emotional tearful moment, remembering…

…how someone in my family hurt me terribly this week…which is another story.

The distractions caused me to forget that tiny little candle lit.

At 2am in the morning my daughter came home and as soon as she walks into her room…

She See’s the FIRE! And started screaming!

I know why I was restless  now! God was trying to get me up!

Another minute later could have made a huge difference in our lives!

I believe God had my daughter walk in just in time.

I beleive the  Angels and God protected us this night! We are so lucky!

I have lit candles for years, the same way I did this time.

….I won’t be lighting candles anymore, without more thought into it.

So, this message is to get a few things across.

….Be extra careful when leaving candles lit.

…and count your blessings and be thankful for everything that you have….

It could all be taken away from you…with a blink of an eye.

If you don’t have a smoke alarm in your home…go get some!

The only smoke alarm we had was in the kitchen…Our childrens bedrooms would have been diminished by the time we heard the alarm.

Today, Im putting one in every room and getting a fire estinguisher.

Becareful everyone….

What Ya’ll doing this weekend?

This girl living in the country, that works in a diesel mechanic shop just 20 feet from her front door, is sitting at her desk ,in the corner of the shop.

The doors are open and she can see out into the side yard where puppies and squirrels scamper all around.

The music on the guys stereo is country today, currently on KBON, but they aren’t here so she could go switch it if she would like.
But, its a local station and they are giving updates on some of the events that are going in South West Louisiana this weekend.

Listening to all the activities and events that are going on this weekend on the radio, Twitter and Facebook makes her realize that she lives in an awesome state where you can celebrate so many culture events.

She thinks….there is always a reason to celebrate! Which is wonderful!

In Port Barre, Louisianathey are celebrating the Cracklin Festival.  Wonder how many people really know what a cracklin actually is.

Cracklins are actually pieces of fried pork skin….I know that does not sound appetising, but actually, they are so good when seasoned just right!

The Cracklin Festival has great Cajun and zydeco music, carnival rides, and of course lots of cracklins!

When she was a little girl, she would steal the bag of cracklins from her daddy and today she has to watch how many she eats, because she has to watch them calories, yea cher’

In Rain, Louisiana they are celebrating the Frog Festival.

Where there there is good music, carnival rides, fun Frog games….Like Frog jumping and racing! Can you imagine how funny that must be to watch!

…and of course the cuisine (clearing throat) yep Frog Legs! Fried Frog Legs!

One time she was having dinner with husband at friends house down the country road they live on and the guys decided to take them Frog Hunting!

Never before in her life had she seen such huge frogs!

And then even more funnier than the way we were all dressed with these huge rubber boots that like went to my ears!

were the men jumping in after the frogs after they spotted them with a flash light in the pitch dark boat, in the middle of the pond….was watching them trying to catch them! That was such a sport to see!

…..She has learned that fried frog legs are not too bad…They actually taste like chicken!

For more information check out their website!

For inside sports events The Ice Gators hockey team are in Lafayette, La tonight.

Or as she may be doing…sitting by a fire, drinking wine, chatting with friends and playing Tabu!

Have a great super duper fun, loving weekend ya’ll!

Halloween 2009

Halloween

I was at Lowes the other day and some children asked me to push a button on a vampire bat that was hanging on an end isle, where all the Halloween items were…
and when I pressed the wing…it began vibrating and screeching!
Well….It caught me by surprise and I jumped like a silly girl…and then the little children ran away laughing!

Oh, the funny things that Halloween gives us.

Ghost and Goblins, Candy Corn, Pumpkins, Spider Webs, Skeletons, Mummy’s, Coffins, Grave Yards, Black Cats, Haunted Houses and more…

As children we love to dress up and go trick or treating door to door in hopes of getting loads of candy and then as adults we love going to haunted houses and having our Halloween parties that scare us and make us do things we normally wouldn’t do.

As a teenager I remember one year where me and my two brothers made our own costumes and then went to the local department store where they were having a Halloween costume contest.
One of brothers made his own Darth Vader costume and won 1st place!
Me and my other brother won smaller prizes with our homemade costumes too. I was a Hobo and my other brother was a Mummy. I dug through my daddys clothes and found some things that made me look like a hobo lost on the streets of New York. I dont remember what my brother used to makes his mummy costume but he was totally wrapped up in what I remember to be toilet paper from head to toe!

Vampires are the trendy subject these days and with the latest in huge box office hits it  has brought the ever popular Vampire back in….but in a more sexy seductive way.

Making all women want to have their necks exposed with hopes of a sexy vampire taking a bite.
The Vampire is also an easy costume to make instead of buying one as well as the following costumes that I thought of that you just need to be creative with clothing in your own closet or your friends, make-up and a few other odd and ends you can find in your home or garage.
…Other cool ideas for homemade costumes are…Dead or Alive Cheerleader, Dirty or Drunk looking Hobo, Mummy, Spice girl, Dead Bride, Hulk, Ghost or Angel

 Movies…
As far as movies that come out around Halloween!
We find so much fun to watch scary movies but then we are scared to death and close our eyes half the time.
…Halloween movies sure have changed since I was a kid.
…I look at Jason and Friday the 13th now as an adult now and I want to laugh!

That sure doesn’t compare to todays scary movies like Chain Saw Massacre and all the Saw movies!
However, if Jason shows up in my bedroom with a chain saw…or jumping out of the bayou, I can guarantee you that I will run as fast as I can.

I don’t know what it is about chain saws and Halloween, but they sure do scare people around Halloween….but oddly enough not during Hurricane Season.

Costumes… have changed, due to the latest movie or characters in the spotlight but some traditional characters still hold their own. Here are some of the top costumes of the year.
Top Halloween costumes 2009 year are:
~Baby’s – the traditional costumes are Pea in the Pod, Minnie Mouse and Bunny costumes.
~New for baby’s are Princes Leia or Baby Yoda costumes… o cute…
~For young girls Hanna Montana
~For young boys Wolverine or Gi Joe, Yoda or Darth Vadar
~Adults Women- Elvira, Female Robin, Pirate or Sexy Vampire
~Men adult- Watchmen Rorschach
~Couples – Batman and Batgirl

Happy Birthday John Mayer

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Random Thoughts about today October 16, 2009

…I was sitting in my wonderful office with nothing but the hum of the computer and some KBON on the radio, playing some old classic country tunes.
And the peace and quiet of the day took a grip of my thinking cap and I begin thinking about the article I wanted to work on.
For some odd reason I was thinking about today being John Mayer’s birthday and wondering how old he was.

…That thinking triggered me thinking about what was going this month many years ago today?
So here are some  interesting facts I came up with.

100 years ago….Sigmeud Freud Psychoanalysis of Dreams is published – and oh gosh as soon as I read that, it  reminded me of my ex-husband, I can hear him in the real world psychoanalyzing all my actions and words said

…the over torture of analyzing makes you feel like you have to come up with something that you did do wrong…and then be sorry for it…

I know there is a lot of truth to what he taught…Im talking about Freud not my ex.
Gosh if my dreams were to be analyzed I cant imagine what Freud would have said…

100 years ago World Series 7 Tiger and Pirates were playing….do those teams even exist anymore?

But then did you know 10 years ago in October, the World Series was delayed by 10 days because of Loma Preieta Earthquake that killed 67 people in Northern California, it measured a 7.1!
The Dow had a mini crash on Friday the 13th 10 years ago,
… Odd day, coincidence…We Americans say Friday the 13th is a freaky, bad luck day…but guess what? I met my now husband on Friday the 13th on a blind date! And yes we are still married. Oh yes he’s number 2.
So I read a Russian News Agency claimed a UFO flew into their territory 10 years ago…
Do they even talk about UFO’s these days? Let alone, have won show up in Russia?

So…10 years ago October 1999 The Eurhythmics release first album in 10 years “Peace”

 and
So today, we send a Happy Birthday to the adorable and talented John C Mayer born October 16 and who cares what year?
He also shares his birthday with some wild guy called Flea and Suzanne Somers.

In the news today….October 16, 2009

As he will be known, The Balloon Boy, had his first interview.

Father (Scientist) left his project available to his son outside. Son gets curious and jumps in homemade air balloon and BAM takes off into the sky.

The family, media, Military, news crews galore, follow the little man all over the town, when it finally lands…Hours later…Uh Oh…no son!

Wonder if that pebble looking thing that fell out of the air balloon basket along the way was their son!
The Social Media Networking World made Balloon Boy the most trendy topic of the day.!

Meanwhile, hours later, back at home trying to figure out where there son was.
A police woman and dog found the little boy in his attic!

Where he was hiding from his dad….duh…cause he knew he would be in trouble for playing with the air balloon…
So….By the time you read this, a movie I’m sure will be in the making.
And today you can make your own history…

Seat Belt Drama

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

I don’t remember when I started wearing a seat belt
…I think it goes back to my first husband.
When he was in the Military.

It was mandatory to wear your seat-belts on the Navy Base.

So, I’m assuming it became a very good natural habit.

I realized the importance years later in a horrifying car accident that proved that wearing your seat belt did save our life.

During the Gulf War, a friend of mine, and my two small daughters ages 4 years and my new born 6weeks old, decided to go to the mall.

As we passed through one of the towns that had a traffic light, a old truck pulled out in front of us.

I know the car spun around a few times before coming to a stop.
I don’t remember much, but in the hospital I found out that…
My car was totaled…
A drunk driver hit us…
My foot was broken…actually blow apart
My 4 year old daughters wrist was broken and she was hysterically crying, because the were putting a catheter in her.
My 6 weeks old babies car seat was twisted about and she was the only one not hurt.
My friend broke her collar bone.

We were all wearing our seat-belts….However..
My 4 year old daughter, was sitting in the middle seat in the back and just had a lap belt on.

The seat-belt held her in but left severe bruising on her upper thighs.

I have been a big mouth advocate for wearing seat-belts ever since then.

My country boy husband and step sons are so careless about not wearing their seat-belt.

They just always seem to forget!

It bothers me greatly!

Well…the other day…I decided to head to town to run some errands.
….I  dressed and threw my new purse over my shoulders and headed out the door.

As I drove into town, I noticed a police car parked on the left side of the road.
As soon as I passed him…The Lights and Sirens came on!!!

Yep…I pulled over, took a deep breath, unrolled my window and waited for the officer to approach me.

So, he asked me, “Do you know why I stopped you”?
I said Uh…because I was going a few miles over the speed limit…???

“I really had no idea”

He said “no”, and pointed to my seatbelt!

I died!!!

That new damn purse strap that I threw over my heart made me feel like I had my seat-belt on and I done plumb forgot to put my seatbelt on!

I cried like a baby!
Of Embarrassment!
Of all people to get a violation for not wearing a seat belt!

Everyone knows I always wear my seat belt. My friend will just die!

Geez…of all the times I should have got stopped for texting while driving.
I should have gotten ticketed for that!

I told the officer…My husband is going to laugh at me!
He nodded and said I’m sure he will…
The officer did apologize that he had to do his job….
Oh whatever…

Officer you could have just given me a warning.

Ya’ll, wear your seat belts! Its not just the law, it can save your life! WGG
