Coat of many colors

Send me a Coat my love!

There is a passion that lives within our souls for some of us…

for the most perfect pieces to compliment our wardrobe.

For several weeks now, I have been on the hunt for the perfect winter, dress coat.

My collection of coats, come from my passion for vintage wear.

My present collection of coats consist of a Navy Pea Coat that is extremely warm and comfortable.  A long wool black coat that has a  fur collar, a traditional blazer style leather jacket and my  most current piece, a down Browning jacket that is camouflage with pink lining.

I love all of my coats but I’m ready to part with any of them to get the coat I have been dreaming of.

My fingers started pecking away at the keys for my favorite websites

… but not fast enough…I lost out on the coats that caught my eye and made my heart melt.

So recently I have tweeting back and forth on twitter.com with @theswellelife who has a sweet fashion website that caters to the fashionistas and cupcake lovers…she is a must save to favorites!

She is precious writer and is sweet as the cupcakes she finds for us… and I enjoy reading what she has to say next.

Awhile ago, I saw she had an article written about a coat!

Ha! what a coincidence…I just knew my garment angel led me to this article….and then to see the coat that she was talking about! This may have well been torture!

The Evening Coat to just to die for!

…this magnificent coat, is the most beautiful coat in the whole world…I just wanted to peel it off the computer screen and put it on, like I was a paper doll!

This coat is a creation of many vintage fabrics and created to look like a captains great coat. Designed by Christine Davis. First released I’m assuming by another one of my Twitter friends who writes for the Pairs Herald and has this awesome online vintage store…and you can see more pictures and information on her website….www.shrimptoncouture.com

Now, of course its way beyond what my budget could allow…but oh, it was nice dreaming for awhile…

Maybe I will get myself organized one day and and put all of my collections of fabrics…

and design my own captains coat…..

with little bit of velvet and vintage fabrics and tapestry and a whole lot of passion a gifted person could  make it happen!

I will keep on dreaming! and shopping for the perfect evening coat for myself.

All in the plaid

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

During high school I went through this fad of wanting to be cowgirl.

The stupid  reason I chose to do this was not one of a new hobbie, but unfortunatley to hang with what I thought were the cute guys…

Typically the fashion for most farm boys and girls and cowgirls and cowboys, is the never out of style plaid shirt.

Flannel seemed to be the pick of material for the plaid  shirts and it was pretty comfortable.

Now in 2009 what is one of the top fashion trends?

Plaid

Plaidshirt

During a shopping trip to the Mall of Acadiana in Lafayette, La, my daughter wanted to go into Hot Topic.

While she was shopping for her gangsta costume, I noticed a really cute hot pink plaid shirt.

Sold to the 43 year woman shopping with her teenager.

Well, I didn’t try it on but I was sure it would fit me.

Days later I decide to wear my new trendy shirt and was so doggone mad, because the shirt was too snug!

Don’t you hate it when you buy something without trying it on and it doesn’t fit?!

Well….6 weeks have passed and guess what Im wearing today? Yep!

pinkblkplaid

and no, thats not me!

I have been on the Activa yogurt challenge and I feel so much better. I bet Ive lost about 5 lbs!  in just the 1 week Ive been faithful to eating my yogurt daily. And my plaid shirt isn’t snug anymore.

So, I have my plaid shirt on, skinny jeans and black slouchy boots on. And my cowboy said I look sexy! Im just trying to follow the trend.

Give it a try girls!

So, plaid it is…and with the Holidays coming up! There are so many fashionable dresses that will all have this trend! Just Google plaid cocktail dresses, there is a style for each one of us!

Enjoy your plaid findings.

infallible

It’s  such a girlie thing, we don’t even need a mirror anymore…

You see us of all ages applying…..
Lip Gloss….. Its like a girls best friend!

You can have the most naked of faces and just add a little lip gloss and Voile’

You look like your shining!

Every girl has her favorite Lip Gloss….
…but we often carry several kinds of lipsticks, balms or gloss in our purses and sometimes in our pockets…

But we all have our favorite lip gloss…

This past summer, while camping at the RV Resort in Baton Rouge. Louisiana (Cajun Palms)

Some of my friends were just hanging around the Tiki Bar…. watching our guys play beach volley ball, where I can also mention that they were winning, but they looked like they were dying….

….And my sister in law caught me putting on my lipgloss and said Oh Oh Can I borrow?

…well I didn’t seem to mind…so I let her apply some…

Moments later she asked me what kind of gloss that was….she said her lips were tingleling…

Once I revealed that it was a lip gloss with plumper, I received such a reaction…from other friend that was there…that she was glad that she didn’t use any…
God forbid….because she has pleasantly plump lips as it is…

….but for those of us who would like a little bit of a fuller lip we choose a lip gloss with a plumper in it…

So my favorite for the past few months has been Loreal’s ((infallible))

It has a great gloss with color and it last for hours!

It come in many shades of gloss ~

Facial Cleansing

Proper skin care begins with proper cleansing.

There are many types of facial cleansers on the market. Based on most facial cleansers I suggest the following protocol for cleansing the facial area.

Apply cleanser and massage gently in circular motions on the face and decollete area for at least 3 minutes.

Another tip is using your hands that have the cleanser on them to clean the inner and out ear area.  Bacteria can clog this sensitive area and create unwanted blackheads.

Depending on your preference or skin type you may choose to use a soft cloth to rinse face or  splashing water to rinse.

For skin that has rosecea, acne or is aging,  I suggest rinsing facial cleanser with water and a dry pat and not using a face cloth to rub the facial area. That could agitate the acne or rosacea skin and pull and tug on aging skin that is losing its elasticity.

Proper protocol for cleansing is morning and evening.

Enjoy your facial cleanser…if it does not work for you or you don’t love it, you may want to switch brands.

My Particular favorite Is Eminence Red Rose Cleanser…works best for me because it is a gently lotion that removes all my make-up and dirt and gentle enough to remove my eye make-up and is also healing for my sensitive rosacea skin.

Dead Skin Be Gone!

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

Looking into Fall, I call attention to our epidermis…in other words (skin). For which yes, we have looked at all summer (most of us) Sunning and Sunning and lathering our bodys  with tons of sunscreen and oils and lotions…all to get that sun kissed glow!

However….

The beauty effects of the summer sun upon our skin now needs to be tended to.
The benefits of hydrating lotions and moisturizers that we will want to pile on our skin in the next few months will not work unless you first exfoliate the dead skins cells that you and the environment have created over the summer months.

Now, I’m not just talking about the skin on your visible face, Im also talking about your whole body. So keep in mind all treatments can be used for face and body.
There are many ways to exfoliate your skin. From homemade remedies to over the counter to higher end treatments purchased from a professional cosmetic counter and for the royal treatments completed by a licensed esthetician in a spa.

For those who prefer homemade organic treatments I can recommend this recipe.
Cup of Green Tea
1tsp of Oatmeal
1 fresh Apricot (can substitute with ½ banana or avocado
1tsp of raw Sugar
1 drop Tea tree Oil
Mix smashed fruit with oatmeal, sugar and oil add enough green or chamomile tea to make a paste. This is plenty for the face and neck.
Gently scrub in mini circles and then leave on for at least 5 minutes. Rinse with ice cold water to close pours.

For over the counter exfoliation treatment, I recommend St. Yves Apricot Scrub. It is very cost effective. Under $12.00
I recommend using a lot of water. Product is very grainy but works well to rid dead skin. Rinse with Ice Cold water to close pours.

For the higher end I suggest either Clinque’s exfoliating scrub. Very creamy and easy to remove. $18.00
Or for a more complete treatment for the slightly aging skin…

My Favorite is Estee Lauders Idealist Micro-D…it has a thermal action that opens up the pours of the skin and cleans them deep and it also give you an instant radiant boost! Cost a little under $50
And of course if you want to treat yourself or have the time to go the spa, My choice of Spa Treatments come from the skincare line from Hungary, Eminence Organics‘. They have a great selection of yummy exfoliating Scrubs and Peels.

So, Aging is a choice…take care of your skin
