Fire!

Fire!

He dashed out of bed in his boxers…

…to the back of the house…with two leaps!

The fire was about 2 feet high off of my daughters dresser!

I couldn’t believe my eyes!

Not a minute later, the whole room would have been engulfed in flames and quite possibly the whole house with me and my husband sleeping.

I was having trouble sleeping and kept smelling something on an off…but for the first time this winter we were sleeping with the bedroom door open.
The fire we had been sitting by in the living room was just so warm and cozy, I wanted some of the heat to flow through out the house into our bedroom, so I left our door open.

…And, I assumed it was  the fire dying out in the living room…that I kept smelling…on an off.

Earlier in the day…I was cleaning house and decided to light a few candles.

…So, I lit a tiny candle and placed it on my daughters dresser.

The evening plans changed from the 3 of us being home to

…My daughter got called into work

…my mother in-law inviting us to dinner

…and  me having a emotional tearful moment, remembering…

…how someone in my family hurt me terribly this week…which is another story.

The distractions caused me to forget that tiny little candle lit.

At 2am in the morning my daughter came home and as soon as she walks into her room…

She See’s the FIRE! And started screaming!

I know why I was restless  now! God was trying to get me up!

Another minute later could have made a huge difference in our lives!

I believe God had my daughter walk in just in time.

I beleive the  Angels and God protected us this night! We are so lucky!

I have lit candles for years, the same way I did this time.

….I won’t be lighting candles anymore, without more thought into it.

So, this message is to get a few things across.

….Be extra careful when leaving candles lit.

…and count your blessings and be thankful for everything that you have….

It could all be taken away from you…with a blink of an eye.

If you don’t have a smoke alarm in your home…go get some!

The only smoke alarm we had was in the kitchen…Our childrens bedrooms would have been diminished by the time we heard the alarm.

Today, Im putting one in every room and getting a fire estinguisher.

Becareful everyone….

What Ya’ll doing this weekend?

This girl living in the country, that works in a diesel mechanic shop just 20 feet from her front door, is sitting at her desk ,in the corner of the shop.

The doors are open and she can see out into the side yard where puppies and squirrels scamper all around.

The music on the guys stereo is country today, currently on KBON, but they aren’t here so she could go switch it if she would like.
But, its a local station and they are giving updates on some of the events that are going in South West Louisiana this weekend.

Listening to all the activities and events that are going on this weekend on the radio, Twitter and Facebook makes her realize that she lives in an awesome state where you can celebrate so many culture events.

She thinks….there is always a reason to celebrate! Which is wonderful!

In Port Barre, Louisianathey are celebrating the Cracklin Festival.  Wonder how many people really know what a cracklin actually is.

Cracklins are actually pieces of fried pork skin….I know that does not sound appetising, but actually, they are so good when seasoned just right!

The Cracklin Festival has great Cajun and zydeco music, carnival rides, and of course lots of cracklins!

When she was a little girl, she would steal the bag of cracklins from her daddy and today she has to watch how many she eats, because she has to watch them calories, yea cher’

In Rain, Louisiana they are celebrating the Frog Festival.

Where there there is good music, carnival rides, fun Frog games….Like Frog jumping and racing! Can you imagine how funny that must be to watch!

…and of course the cuisine (clearing throat) yep Frog Legs! Fried Frog Legs!

One time she was having dinner with husband at friends house down the country road they live on and the guys decided to take them Frog Hunting!

Never before in her life had she seen such huge frogs!

And then even more funnier than the way we were all dressed with these huge rubber boots that like went to my ears!

were the men jumping in after the frogs after they spotted them with a flash light in the pitch dark boat, in the middle of the pond….was watching them trying to catch them! That was such a sport to see!

…..She has learned that fried frog legs are not too bad…They actually taste like chicken!

Eggs Anyone?

Eggs anyone!

So, today I woke up with the sun peaking through the wooden blinds laying in my husbands arms. The sound of Cajun music waking us slowly.
…but soon I get that calling and jumped out of bed to get my first mug of Community Dark Roast Coffee…let the dogs out and then found myself crawling back in bed for a minute until the house warmed up…
Closed my eyes with a big smile, just knowing that today was going to another ME day!
Looking forward to a visit to my favorite massage therapist, for that nagging sore knot I’ve been suffering with since falling in love with bike riding.
So, my morning is off to a beautiful start.

My massage was great…from head to toe…my body is at peace. Touch is so essential for any human being but for those who need that extra special touch, massage therapy is so beneficial in so many ways.

For me, I can now bend my leg the way I’ am supposed to! And I feel great!
After my massage, I stopped at a local grocery store that has the freshest produce.
Tonight our wonderful neighbors, who are like family to us are cooking and I’m bring the salad.
So, I wanted the freshest produce to make a yummy and splendid salad.
As I returned to my desk I decided to check in on Face Book.
As I reviewed the many different status updates, I came across one of my friends from high schools status. It revealed to me that she has just lost a dear friend and having a difficult time.
Well, the miracle worker I try to be at times came out in me.
And I started sending her messages of support and relief. I also began finding videos from YouTube to post, to lift her up.
As I was doing this I became so enthralled in the moment that I lost track of time.
Next thing I know the mechanic who was in our backyard yelled out to me from across the yard…“You cooking something?”

Well. …The light bulb went off in my ditzy little brain and I took off like a bolt of lighting!

To save some time this evening, when I came home from the grocery store, I put some eggs boiling for the salad.

I had every intention of going back in to get them in 20 minutes but of course, I got distracted! While helping my friend and tending to the shop business.
You cant imagine what I walked in my house to find!
Egg Explosion! Eggs everywhere!
From the kitchen sink all the way to the front door of my house! I even had eggs on the ceiling!
I must be the only person in the world that can burn eggs. Now I must be the only one that can make them explode!
As I was cleaning up, I had put in today to clean and she did everything she could to get rid of the seafood smell, but it just wouldnt go away.
Well….the seafood smell is gone…without a doubt…
Guess what it smells like now?

Life doesn’t go according to how we plan it. We just have to go with the flow and look forward to a glass of wine at 5! and Look forward to tomorrow.

Diary Days

 Diary Days

Have you ever had a situation where you know you were very emotional because of something that was said to you…
and it possibly made you so miserable, you cried and most likely threw a big fit?!
And then days or maybe just a few weeks later, the event is brought up again likely due to your emotional reaction that you had at that time and you don’t even remember what words were said to you in the first place, that caused all the pain?!
Many people suffer this way, just like you do.
Remembering certain things in your past…
…seems just so ridiculous hard to do!
Personally, I am in the stats of those who have difficulty remembering things, so don’t feel alone, at all.
I have come to have an understanding that we must block out events in our past for some reason or another.
…………………Experts suggest that some type of repressed memory causes one to block out events that are painful or uncomfortable. So those experts say that behavior therapy would assist in the healing of such repressed memory problems.
Journaling… has been a form of therapy for centuries.

Emotional issues have been hidden deep into your memory can be recaptured by this type of therapy.

Recalling the events that you have repressed…

Reading your journal notes can toggle the memory and help you to overcome the repressed thought.

….when you reread what you have journaled.
As young girls, we are given a diary, to write our most secrets thoughts in.
I wonder how many of us young girls still have our diaries>?
I sure wish I would have kept a diary of my life…A lot would make more sense to me! According to the experts!
……………..I learned a long time ago…. when I went to a bible study…that I should write down all my prayers and keep a journal.
So, later in life I can look back at my prayers and see how God has worked in my life.

And, honestly, when I do look back in my journal at hat I had written down for my prayers….I see that….

He has answered many prayers that I wrote to Him about………….Not all are answered in my time….but answered, nonetheless.
Journaling doesn’t have rules to it…Its not important how long you write or how much you make sense in proper English…
Dating your journal entries IS important!
Just think how rewarding it would be to go back and read something you were going through and measure how much that situation has changed you today.
Kind of sounds like self help to me…and a whole lot cheaper than a shrink these days too.!
………………My oldest daughter….ever since I can remember, has kept a journal…

….Actually the very first diary she received as a gift was in front of all the family…and
When she opened the diary she was so excited…All 10 yrs of her little self she says “Its a Diarrhea?”
Yes we all laughed….and well today the laugh is on us…
She is in nursing school and after all these years still has the many journals she kept her life in during her adolescent years…
…Just recently she mentioned to me that she was rereading one of her diary entries and thought she sounded really weird and crazy.!!!
I can just predict that all those diaries/journals will make her a Best Seller one day!
However you decide to journal, whether it is for remembering your emotional status during that last argument or using it to overcome a fear or tracking your prayers, there is one thing that I know…

….somewhere down the road we will not be here…how do you want to have your grandchildren remember you…I think its a good way to leave a legacy too!
Find joy in writing and I wish you happy journal !
